“Siccagno is my Nero d'Avola, born from that concentrated grape which is precisely called Siccagna. The Nero that tells so much about Sicily, which is wild, but also fresh and elegant, with a flavor of red fruits. Which has something noble and aristocratic, but also melancholy like a poet or a philosopher. Which is passionate, full of human warmth and contrasts. Classification DOC Sicily; Altitude 280m above sea level; ground is Medium consistency from light sands and sub-Apennine rock of a calcareous nature; agriculture Medium consistency from light sands and sub-Apennine rock of a calcareous nature; training system used is spurred cordon and sapling; average age of the plants is 35 years with plant density of 6000 plants per hectare.  Time of harvest first ten days of October. Fermentation In cement tanks with indigenous yeasts, 25 days maceration on the skins; refinement 24 months in 30HL Austrian oak barrels, 2 months in the bottle.” - words from Arianna Occhipinti

About Occhipinti

Arianna Occhipinti has been championing traditional Sicilian grape varietals since she was sixteen, when she fell in love with her uncle cellar and his traditional winemaking techniques. Fast forward a few years and at 22 she underwent her first vintage. Since her first vintage in 2004 Arianna Occhipinti has gone on to produce beautiful wines that speak truly of Sicily and has in turn become wine of the most sought after winemakers in Sicily.
