Xavier Goodridge

Xavier Goodridge is based in a secluded pocket of Gippsland, one of Australia’s most exciting yet understated cool-climate regions. Through his label, Xavier Wine, he focuses on capturing the subtle interplay between soil, season, and instinct, creating wines that evolve year by year with clarity and intent.

At the heart of the project is the Avon Vineyard in Maffra, a 4-hectare site defined by its unique coffee rock soils. Once neglected, the vineyard has been carefully restored through organic farming practices, with a long-term focus on soil health, vine balance, and sustainability. This considered approach has allowed the site to steadily reveal its potential, producing fruit with depth, structure, and a distinct sense of character.

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the focus, with both varieties thriving in Gippsland’s cool conditions. The wines are made using wild fermentation and a minimal intervention philosophy, allowing the vineyard to speak with precision and transparency. The resulting expressions balance purity and energy with a quiet complexity, often unfolding slowly in the glass.

Xavier Goodridge’s wines reflect a thoughtful and evolving approach, where each vintage builds on the last. They are not about immediacy or overt statement, but rather a steady refinement, a dialogue between land and maker that continues to deepen over time.

In a region that remains something of a secret, Xavier Wine stands as a compelling voice for Gippsland, producing wines that are honest, site-driven, and quietly profound.

How are these wines made?

Xavier Goodridge follows a thoughtful, low-intervention approach to winemaking. Rather than chasing a particular style, the aim is to produce wines that honestly reflect the vineyard, the season and the winemaker's intent.

Which Xavier Goodridge wine should I start with?

If you're new to Xavier Goodridge, start with the bottle that best matches the style you already enjoy. If you're unsure, get in touch and we'll happily point you toward the best place to begin.
