Gentle Folk is the project of Gareth and Rainbow Belton, based in the Adelaide Hills, where they focus on small-scale, thoughtful winemaking rooted in organic farming and minimal intervention. Since its beginnings, Gentle Folk has become a benchmark for modern Australian wine, known for clarity, restraint, and a strong connection to place.

Fruit is sourced from a combination of estate vineyards and trusted growers across the Hills, with a particular emphasis on cool-climate varieties such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling, as well as their signature Sangiovese and Sauvignon Blanc. These wines are shaped by altitude, aspect, and the naturally cooler conditions of the region, resulting in expressions that are lifted, detailed, and finely structured.

In the vineyard, the approach is centred on organic practices and long-term sustainability, with a focus on soil health and balance. This philosophy carries through to the cellar, where winemaking is intentionally gentle, allowing the fruit and site to take the lead. Fermentations are often wild, with minimal additions, and the use of oak is restrained, supporting texture without overshadowing the wine.
