Gentle Folk is the passion project of Gareth and Rainbo Belton, former marine scientists who specialized in studying seaweed biodiversity before falling in love with winemaking. Their journey began in 2012 in Adelaide Hills' Basket Range, learning alongside natural wine pioneers like James Erskine of Jauma.

What started with just three barrels in 2013 has grown into a respected operation producing 6,000-7,000 cases annually from eight hectares of vines, plus fruit from trusted Adelaide Hills growers.

The team brings together scientific precision and hands-on expertise. Assistant winemaker James Ellis contributes formal winemaking credentials and experience across Australia's premium wine regions, while viticultural consultant Dr. Dylan Grigg—a Barossa native with international experience and a PhD focusing on old vines—guides their vineyard practices with world-class expertise.
