The 2022 Persévérance et Patience is pure Sauvignon Blanc from La Petite Empreinte’s two tiny parcels in Saint-Bris. Three quarters of the fruit was pressed directly, while the remainder received a brief maceration, with each portion aged separately in 228 and 500-litre barrels before blending.

La Petite Empreinte, which translates as ‘The Small Footprint’ is the estate of Romain de Moor and his partner Mélissa Bazin. Originally named Persévérance after one year in barrel, the cuvée gained its extended name after more than two years of ageing transformed the wine into something altogether more profound. 

This patient approach reflects Romain and Mélissa’s time working in the Jura with Ganevat and Labet. Bottled without added sulphites, it is a wine of remarkable complexity, length and tension. Deeply gastronomic and contemplative, it rewards taking your time with every mouthful.

About the Winemaker
La Petite Empreinte is the two-hectare micro-estate of Romain De Moor, son of Alice and Olivier De Moor, and his wife Mélissa Bazin. For those who already love the De Moor family’s wines, there is a familiar commitment to thoughtful farming and sensitive winemaking, but Romain and Mélissa are very much following their own path. Mélissa leads much of the vineyard work while Romain continues working with his parents, and every cellar decision is made together.

They never work to a fixed formula, adapting each wine to the vineyard and vintage. Their tiny, scattered parcels demand enormous care, which makes their decision to leave Burgundy after the 2026 vintage especially significant. They have purchased a long-established organic vineyard in Jurançon, where they can live alongside their vines and build the integrated family farm they have been seeking. Until then, these final Burgundy releases offer a rare chance to experience the remarkable wines of La Petite Empreinte at their source.
