Burgundy - White

White Burgundy is built on Chardonnay, expressed through a complex network of vineyards that stretch from Chablis in the north to the Côte de Beaune further south. Each area brings its own interpretation, shaped by climate and soil, but all share a focus on clarity and structure.

Chablis is known for its linear, mineral-driven style, often defined by citrus, saline notes, and high acidity. Further south, in the Côte de Beaune, wines become broader and more textural, with layers of stone fruit, subtle oak influence, and a deeper, more rounded profile. Across both areas, the emphasis remains on balance and the interplay between fruit, acidity, and terroir.

Alongside Chardonnay, Aligoté plays a small but increasingly appreciated role in the region. Often grown on less prestigious sites, it produces bright, high-acid wines with a more immediate, refreshing character, and is seeing renewed interest from producers seeking purity and drinkability.

Winemaking varies from stainless steel to oak maturation, but increasingly, producers are aiming for restraint and precision rather than overt richness. Organic and biodynamic practices are widely adopted, supporting a more transparent expression of vineyard character.

Burgundy whites are valued for their ability to combine richness with freshness, offering wines that are both immediate and age-worthy, with a complexity that unfolds over time.
