About The Wine
Blaufränkisch. The fruit for Josephine comes from vineyards with a little more direct sun exposure and therefore more ripeness producing wine with more body and power.
From the label
We live Josephine for her individual personality, her southern temper and northern dry wit. She always cheers us up, bright and playful yet warm and caring. Happy to please, but also ready to take you to unexpected places. Her character reflects the vineyards where she grew up, bathed in the warmth of the sun, tempered by the purity and freshness of limestone.
The dry heat of 2020 challenged her at times. But some refreshing nights in August cooled her down in a delightful way. She is a free spirit, unable to be contained. Delighting your senses and challenging your sensibilities with every sip you take. Josephine encourages us to open our minds to new ideas and explore new horizons. She inspires us to dare the unknown. That is her gift to the world.
About Gut Oggau
When it comes to cult wine in Austria its hard to look past wife and husband Stephanie and Eduard Tscheppe-Eselbock of Gut Oggau.
Gut Oggau is a 13-hectare Austrian wine estate located in the town of Oggau close to the shores of Lake Neusiedl, Burgenland.
Formed in 2007 in Burgenland on one of the oldest properties in the region, with some manor walls dating back to the 17th century. However unlike in people's fantasies this vineyard had been neglected and left to deteriorate for 20 years. So Stephanie and Eduard had their work cut out for them. Although due to this neglect, the vines have had any semblance of pesticides and chemical treatments washed away and allowed Gut Oggau to jump straight into producing wines of biodynamic principles.
Stephanie and Eduard only work with native varietals and produce distinct and breathtaking wines that seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive.
