Bone-dry Gewürztraminer with softness, texture and aromatic lift

Weird Berries comes from a single Adelaide Hills vineyard, harvested on 11 March, a full month later than the previous vintage. The fruit was pressed directly into seasoned French oak with full solids, with all pressings retained to build flavour and texture. Full malolactic fermentation and additional lees stirring bring a generous softness and creamy, nougat-like feel.

Fresh lychee, tangelo blossom and lavender meet Meyer lemon and mānuka honey on the nose. Rose petal and lemongrass lead the palate, followed by chalky texture, mandarin skin and a lively thread of jasmine and ginger.

Despite its aromatic richness and rounded texture, the wine finishes bone dry, crisp and beautifully bright. Long, expressive and wonderfully generous.

In the Adelaide Hills, Amber and the team at Ochota Barrels creates wines that honor the memory of founder Taras Ochota, continuing his vision under the stewardship of Amber, Yari, and Louis.
