Botanicals of the Basket Range is a vermouth-inspired red created from a continuous ferment kept alive throughout the entire 2026 vintage. A small amount of juice from each batch destined for the other Ochota wines was added to one tiny tank, ultimately bringing together Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Gamay, Syrah and Grenache.

After fermenting for one month and six days, the wine was infused with a bouquet garni of organic botanicals grown within 44 metres of the wine studio. Sage, wild fennel, lemon and grapefruit peel, lavender, rose petals, wormwood, river mint, lemon balm and lemon verbena are among the garden ingredients that give the wine its vivid herbal, floral and citrus character.

Unfined and unfiltered, this is a wonderfully original taste of the Basket Range and its 2026 season. Enjoy it as you would a wine, or pour it over ice with fresh flowers and herbs for the full vermouth experience. Only 595 bottles were produced.

About the Winemaker
In the Adelaide Hills, Amber and the team at Ochota Barrels creates wines that honor the memory of founder Taras Ochota, continuing his vision under the stewardship of Amber, Yari, and Louis.

These are wines born of intuition - grapes picked when they're irresistibly delicious, guided by natural acidity and wild fermentation. Old bush vines in living soil produce concentrated fruit that speaks for itself through minimal intervention winemaking.
