Rattlesnake takes Owen Latta’s usual site-first philosophy and gleefully turns it on its head. Rather than beginning with terroir, this small experimental release starts with a question: what new personalities can familiar grapes reveal when pushed in unexpected directions?

Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Grenache and Chardonnay come together in a bold, boundary-blurring blend, with each variety undergoing skin-contact fermentation to build flavour, colour and texture. Excellent vineyard fruit provides the freshness and acidity needed to keep all that experimentation in balance.

Exotic, textural and wildly delicious, Rattlesnake delivers generous fruit, vibrant freshness and layered complexity. It is playful winemaking with serious foundations, proving that even the most familiar varieties can still have a few surprises waiting.

About the Wine

A bold, experimental blend that challenges tradition and celebrates the art of winemaking. Rattlesnake is a playful blend showcasing classic varieties in a whole new light. A blend of Riesling, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Nebbiolo, Gewurztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc. each grape undergoes skin contact fermentation to extract deep, vibrant flavours and textures. The result? A wildly delicious, exotic wine that delivers a punch of freshness, with a perfect balance of fruit, acidity, and complexity.

About the Winemaker
Like a lot of winemakers Owen Latta was born into the wine industry after his parents purchased some land in 1970s that is now home to the Eastern Peake wine label. But unlike most winemakers Owen Latta completed his first vintage at just 15.

Owen now manages both LATTA and Eastern Peake winery with the
former being a chance to experiment with interesting grape varietals and exciting winemaking techniques.

He’s just as passionate about sustainable farming and improving soil health, always aiming to make a positive impact in the vineyard.

Through Eastern Peake and Latta Vino, Owen continues to craft wines that tell a story of place and time often pushing the boundaries with his innovative approach.
