2025 Piccadilly Chardonnay

Piccadilly power, precision and flair

This single-vineyard Chardonnay comes from organically grown fruit at St James, situated just below Mount Lofty in the heart of Piccadilly. Planted in 1996 at 525 metres, the south-east-facing vines grow in light loamy clay over sandstone, with extensive schist and quartz rubble beneath. It is a remarkable part of the Adelaide Hills, often regarded as the region’s Grand Cru territory for Chardonnay.

Whole bunches were crushed and pressed to tank, settled overnight and racked off solids to barrel for wild fermentation and 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine spent 11 months in French oak, including 25% new barrels, followed by a further three months in tank before bottling.

Citrus, melon and ripe fruit bring generosity and depth, while impressive acidity gives the palate energy, shape and length. A subtle touch of new oak adds polish without overwhelming the fruit. Powerful yet composed, this is a complete and beautifully balanced expression of Piccadilly Chardonnay.
