About the Wine
"Gentle extraction has made for a light frame and structure, there is a plum and violet core, the tannins are fine from the sandy soils, and there is a refreshing lift with the long line of natural acidity." - Jasper Button
This 40% Grenache, 60% Syrah blend comes from a single-vineyard site in Blewitt Springs. The vines are 60- to 80-year-old and sit on deep, sandy soils. The fruit was hand harvested, sorted and destemmed, keeping 10% whole bunches. Maceration occurred over three weeks before 18 months' maturation in large, old foudre. It shows more depth and more refined tannins than the 2023 vintage, thanks to the warmer conditions in 2024, which permitted better ripeness in the skins and stems.
About Commune of Buttons
