Elegant, energetic skin-contact wine shaped by granite

Granite brings together Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc from Nikau Farm’s historic Tonimbuk vineyard. Here, 47-year-old vines reach deep into coarse, weathered granite soils, producing a lean and mineral-driven wine with remarkable energy and precision.

The 2023 vintage carries greater tannin and structure from its Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio components, while extended ageing on gross lees in clay amphorae builds complexity and textural finesse. Delicately coloured yet quietly intense, it feels refined, vibrant and deeply connected to its origins.

Wild fermented without sulphur, additions, pumps or oak, the wine was bottled unfiltered by gravity and finished with natural cork and beeswax. A pure and uncompromising expression of site, vintage and time.

About the Wine

A delicately hued orange wine of refined elegance and abundant energy. Aged entirely in clay amphorae. The 2023 vintage brings together Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Grigio, and Sauvignon Blanc from Dane's historic Tonimbuk site, where 47-year-old vines sink their roots deep into coarse, weathered granite soils. This ancient terroir imparts the wine's signature lean, mineral-driven character with a precise structure that speaks directly of place. 

The Pinot Gris and Grigio components contribute more substantial tannin than previous vintages, while extended aging on gross lees adds layered complexity and textural finesse. 

Bottled by gravity and sealed with premium natural cork and beeswax. This is winemaking at its purest: an unfiltered expression of site, vintage, and time.

About the Winemaker
Dane Johns has carved a formidable reputation making some of Australia's best natural wines. His hugely popular Momento Mori wines have a cult following and it's not hard to see why. The Nikau Farms wines are from Dane and Hannah's Gippsland vineyards.

They operate with the ideology of creating wines that first and foremost respect the living and are wines that they like to drink and share. They farm two sites one on the steep hills of Strezelecki Ranges in Gippsland and another beneath the Black Snake Ranges in the Tonimbuk valley.

Farmed strictly with organic principles and a appreciation of the living and dynamic environment around them. Nikau Farm wines are all very small batch with no use of new oak or mechanical pumps used on the wines, no fining or filtering and no additions apart from occasionally a tiny amount of S02 when required.
