Low yields in 2024 led Benjamin Leroux to bring almost all his Gevrey parcels together, including fruit from Premier Cru Champeaux and Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin, with only Cazetiers bottled separately. The village parcels span the northern end of the commune, from below the town to the elevated, rocky slopes toward Brochon.

The result is a Gevrey of exceptional pedigree and composure. Refined fruit is shaped by fine, powdery tannins, with beautiful structure and a quiet mineral authority. Classy, precise and deeply expressive, it offers remarkable quality for a village-level Burgundy.

About the Wine

The yields in Gevrey were slightly better, but Leroux still blended all of his parcels together, including the 1er and grand crus (apart fromCazetiers). Most of the villages parcels are in the northern end of the commune, below the town, but with a significant portion also coming from above the town, on the high, rocky, Brochon side of Gevrey and the 1er crus Champeaux and Grand Cru Charmes. It’s a seriously classy and refined Gevrey with fine, powdery tannins.

About the Winemaker
Benjamin Leroux established his own label in 2007, dedicating himself entirely to the project since 2014. Working throughout the Côte d'Or with owned organic-certified vines, leased parcels, and carefully sourced fruit, he produces an extraordinary range from AC Bourgogne to Grand Cru. His deep relationships with predominantly organic growers allow him to influence farming decisions and dictate harvest timing for optimal ripeness.

Leroux's winemaking philosophy centers on preserving terroir through minimal intervention. He favours large wooden casks for vinification and maturation, uses very little new oak, and adjusts whole-bunch inclusion based on site and vintage. The scale remains artisanal—several wines are produced in quantities not exceeding a single barrel, reflecting his commitment to small-batch excellence.

The 2023 vintage exemplifies Leroux's exceptional timing and skill. The resulting wines showcase remarkable purity: charming fruit and silky structures. After consistently producing outstanding wines across every appellation, Leroux has established himself as a producer who simply doesn't know how to put a foot wrong.

The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a little peppery as if you would think there were some stems in the mix (there are none) leading to a "cool" finish.
