Jean-Pierre Robinot
Jean-Pierre Robinot is one of the Loire Valley’s most revered natural winemakers, crafting profoundly expressive Chenin Blanc and Pinot d’Aunis from organically farmed vineyards in Chahaignes. His wines are cult classics, sought after for their depth, purity, and uncompromising sense of place.
Before returning to the land, Robinot was a central figure in Paris’s early natural wine movement, running one of the city’s first natural wine bars, L’Ange Vin, and co-founding the influential publication Rouge et Blanc. In 2000, he and his wife Noella returned to his childhood village, assembling seven hectares across ten small parcels near Tours and Le Mans.
The family farms Chenin Blanc alongside the rare local variety Pinot d’Aunis. Fermentations are slow and entirely natural, often lasting more than a year, with wines resting patiently in hillside cellars for up to five years or more before release.
The result is a body of work that stands among the Loire’s most soulful and age-worthy: wines of quiet power, singular identity, and extraordinary longevity.
