About The Wine
Lively deep mulberry in colour. Powerful aromatics of plums, crushed rock and spice. Medium bodied with a satiny mouthfeel.
This year’s Tikka comprises Shiraz (80%) and Grenache (20%) from Ralph Woods’s farm in Clarendon, McLaren Vale. The site sits at 280 metres and is heavy in ironstone with grey sand on top, lending a distinct character and richness to the fruit. These powerful soils produce large bunches and berries, ensuring wines of juicy generosity. Farming is, of course, organic, and the 30+-year-old vines are dry-grown.
Both varieties are picked once the tannins are ripe. The fruit is destemmed, fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured in old French puncheons. A portion (20%) of the Shiraz fermented carbonically.
