2025 Tolone Riesling

Elegant, vital Riesling with remarkable presence

Tolone comes from the second small vineyard on Dane and Hannah’s Gippsland farm, a steep block planted predominantly to Riesling with a small amount of Chardonnay interplanted among the vines. Averaging 27 years of age, the vineyard has been farmed organically since it was planted and remains alive with biodiversity above and below the ground.

The vines grow on a silica-rich sandstone base beneath a thin layer of friable loam. The steep slope and free-draining soils help shape a wine of distinctive structure, precision and mineral character.

Whole bunches received 24 hours of gentle skin contact before being pressed into a small stainless-steel tank for a long, cool wild fermentation. The wine then rested undisturbed on full solids for eight months before being bottled by hand directly from tank. This light touch of skin contact preserves more of the vineyard’s story without compromising the wine’s delicacy.

At just 10.9% alcohol, Tolone is refined and light on its feet yet carries wonderful structure and presence. Elegant, fresh and full of vitality, it is a deeply individual expression of Riesling and place.
