A boundary-blurring expression of Pyrenees Grenache

Tonal Diffusion comes from the certified-organic Shays Flat vineyard in Victoria’s Pyrenees, farmed by renowned viticulturist Cory Hope. While Owen Latta nods towards the great rosé wines of the southern Rhône, this remains entirely its own thing, shaped by the Pyrenees landscape and made at his Coghills Creek winery.

The fruit was gathered across three separate harvests, allowing Owen to capture different layers of freshness, ripeness and structure. A mixture of whole-bunch fermentation, gentle infusion and concrete fermentation was used before the wine was basket pressed directly to barrel. Eight months of élevage in large-format casks brought the components together while preserving the wine’s energy and site expression.

About the Wine

"Here we have Grenache, grown by Cory Hope up in the Pyrenees from the Shays Flat site. Cory managed 50 hectares of vines over three sites in the valley which are all farmed certified organic. I could easily rabbit on about the influence from a certain southern rhone rosé appellation inspiration but that wouldn’t be all that interesting as this is from the Victorian Pyrenees & produced in Coghills Creek with various cellar techniques & picking dates.

About the Winemaker
Owen grew up immersed in wine, with his family’s vineyard forming the foundations of what is now Eastern Peake. Remarkably, he completed his first vintage at just 15; an early start that shaped a deeply intuitive approach.

Today, Owen steers both Eastern Peake and LATTA. While Eastern Peake focuses on site-driven classics, LATTA offers a more experimental lens: exploring alternative varieties, textures, and techniques with curiosity and restraint.

Sustainability sits at the core of everything he does, with careful attention to soil health and vineyard resilience. Owen works with Nebbiolo, Grenache, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, crafting wines that reflect place, season, and an ever-evolving conversation between vineyard and cellar.
