Delinquente

Delinquente Wine Co. is the project of Greg Grigoriou, a winemaker who returned to his Riverland roots with a clear vision: to challenge perceptions of the region and showcase its potential through thoughtful, minimal intervention wine. After growing up immersed in the wine industry, Greg’s direction became clear when he encountered just how compelling Riverland fruit could be when handled with care.

At the core of Delinquente is a focus on Southern Italian varietals such as Nero d’Avola, Montepulciano, Negroamaro, and Vermentino. These grapes are naturally suited to the Riverland’s hot, dry conditions, thriving with minimal irrigation and producing wines that retain freshness, balance, and drinkability despite the warmth of the climate.

Greg works closely with a network of organic growers, many of whom he has known since childhood, ensuring a deep level of trust and consistency in the vineyard. Farming practices prioritise sustainability and vine health, allowing the fruit to express both variety and site with clarity.

In the winery, the approach is intentionally hands-off. Fermentations are wild, additions are minimal, and the wines are often bottled without fining or filtration. This results in natural wine that is bright, textural, and full of life, often with a slightly savoury edge that complements their vibrant fruit.

Delinquente wines have become known for their immediacy and drinkability. Lower in alcohol and bursting with energy, they are designed to be enjoyed young, whether at a BBQ, with friends, or in more relaxed settings. At the same time, they represent a serious rethinking of what the Riverland can produce, moving away from bulk wine associations toward something far more expressive and site-driven.

With bold, eye-catching labels by Adelaide artist Jason Koen and a philosophy that embraces experimentation and fun, Delinquente lives up to its name. These are wines that break rules in the best way, honest, vibrant, and made to be enjoyed without overthinking.

Frequently asked questions about Delinquente

What makes Delinquente wines special?

Delinquente wines are selected for their quality, personality and sense of place. We focus on producers whose wines feel distinctive, carefully made and genuinely enjoyable to drink.

How are these wines made?

Delinquente follows a thoughtful, low-intervention approach to winemaking. The focus is on healthy vineyards, careful farming, hand-harvested fruit, wild yeast fermentations and avoiding unnecessary additions or manipulation in the winery. Rather than chasing a particular style, the aim is to produce wines that honestly reflect the vineyard, the season and the winemaker's intent.

Which Delinquente wine should I start with?

If you're new to Delinquente, start with the bottle that best matches the style you already enjoy. If you're unsure, get in touch and we'll happily point you toward the best place to begin.

Are these wines good for gifting?

Absolutely. Delinquente makes an excellent gift for anyone who enjoys discovering thoughtful, small-batch wines. Add a greeting card at checkout and we'll make sure no pricing information is included in the parcel.

How should I store and serve these wines?

Store bottles somewhere cool, dark and stable. Serve whites, sparkling and lighter reds chilled, and give fuller reds a gentle cool-down rather than serving them too warm.
