Tasmanian sparkling with a Champagne attitude

A traditional-method blend of 90% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay, Lubiana’s Brut Reserve brings together richness, freshness and beautifully developed lees character.

Apple, lemon and nectarine meet toast, crushed almonds and a hint of sea air. The palate is generous and creamy, with a fine mousse and persistent bead carrying flavours of citrus, cashew and gentle salinity. Brioche and Parmesan sable emerge through the long, savoury finish.

Following secondary fermentation in bottle, the wine spends 20 to 24 months ageing on lees before riddling and disgorgement. A low dosage of 6 grams per litre keeps the style fresh and balanced, while additional time resting on cork allows the wine to settle and come together before release. Enjoy as an aperitif or alongside seafood, cheese and white meats.

About the Wine

A blend of Pinot Noir (90%) and Chardonnay (10%).

A medium lemon in appearance with enticing aromas of apple, toast, crushed almonds and a hint of sea air. The palate is rich with a fine creamy mousse and thick beading. Lemon, nectarines, apples and cashews feature on the palate with a touch of saline. 

The reserve wine and lees aging becoming prominent on the finish with additional flavours of brioche and parmesan sable. A wine to be enjoyed as an aperitif or matched with a wide variety of food such as seafood, cheese and white meats.

 After blending, the liqueur de tirage is added so secondary fermentation can commence in bottle. The wine then spends 20-24 months aging on lees to promote complexity and texture of the wine before being riddled, disgorged and finally labelled. The wine is made in a brut style and the dosage is 6 grams per litre. Before release the wine always spends time on cork, something that Steve knows is vital in order for the wine to come together after disgorgement.

About the Winemaker
Stefano Lubiana is a fifth-generation winemaker who established his family estate at Granton in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley with his wife, Monique, in 1990. Inspired by experience in Champagne and Chianti, Steve combines traditional craftsmanship with biodynamic farming, low yields and minimal-intervention winemaking.

The estate has produced sparkling wine since 1993, growing and vinifying all fruit in-house as one of Australia’s rare genuine grower sparkling producers. Today, son Marco and his wife, Phoebe, are helping carry the family legacy into its sixth generation.
