    About the Wine

Sauvignon Blanc has a rich history in the Adelaide Hills, and Gareth is proud to be a part of that tradition, though with his own distinctive style. He believes that with the right vineyards, the variety can produce some serious wines, and he never underestimates its potential. This particular Sauvignon Blanc is barrel fermented with full malolactic fermentation, resulting in a wine of great poise, tension and purity.

These grapes come from vineyards in Summertown, Balhannah, Ashton and Morialta, ranging from 350m to 520m in elevation, with vines aged between 16 and 22 years. While aspects and soils vary, they are generally light loamy clay over sandstone with scattered quartz rubble. Made from 100% whole cluster fruit, the wine was pressed and settled in tank overnight, then racked to neutral French barriques and hogsheads for fermentation and eight months of lees ageing.

    About Gentle Folk

Gentle Folk Wines was founded by marine scientists-turned-winemakers Gareth and Rainbo Belton in 2013, starting with just three barrels from a vineyard in the Basket Range. Driven by a deep respect for nature and a hands-on approach to viticulture, they produce small-batch, minimal-intervention wines that reflect the character and diversity of their cool-climate region.

With a focus on organic farming and gentle winemaking techniques, Gentle Folk has earned a loyal following for its vibrant, expressive wines—from elegant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to more playful, experimental blends. Each bottle tells a story of place, passion, and a thoughtful connection to the land.
