    2022 Foradori 'Granato' Teroldego

    • $165.00

100% Teroldego sourced from Foradori’s oldest Pergola trained vines on the Campo Rotaliano. The vineyards are planted on a mix of alluvial, river pebbles and gravel soils. Fermented in large open oak vats and them aged in Tonneaux for 15 months.

    Notes from Theo Zierock

“We can all predict what happens in a silky vintage, on the silkiest and oldest vineyards of Teroldego: Smooth Operator. A perfect sphere of lust; the ideal water temperature in the bath tub, a foot massage, a silent car, a perfectly cooked chicken on the grill, a warm soup on a freezing day, a hug...call it what you want but today I call it Granato 2022 (maybe this sentence is too much, sorry). Anyway, an all-out horizontal Granato. Bordeaux-ish, Ornellaia-ish, overdressed but classy. Fire on the nose, tar, heat: the streets of Monte Carlo. Ideal for young billionaires. Tabasco in the mouth mixed with something burning in an Orthodox chapel. Myrrh, incense, sacrifices...I don't know. A Granato for cult leaders, with a finish of Listerine. Isn't wine an interesting hobby?  Cultural reference: Smooth Operator by Sade.”

    About Elisabetta Foradori

Elisabetta Foradori is largely responsible for resurrecting Trentino’s much forgotten Teroldego grape from the brink of extinction, and producing some of Italy’s finest, most age-worthy wines. The Foradori Granato is consistently recognised as the international benchmark for Teroldego, and Elisabetta’s commitment to creating terroir-driven wines has made her a leading figure in biodynamics and Italy’s natural wine movement.

From her first vintage as a 20 year-old graduate in 1984, Elisabetta has sought to improve the quality and depth of the family estate’s wines. From careful massale selection of the estate’s Teroldego vines in 1985 in order to cultivate 15 clones in diverse microclimates, to the early adoption of amphora as a way to enable extended skin contact, to early conversion to biodynamics in 2002, Elisabetta has constantly pushed boundaries. All wines are wild fermented with indigenous yeast and Demeter certified.
