Foradori
The Foradori estate is a magical experience. Sitting pretty in Trentino, in the northern part of Italy at the gates of the Alto Adige region, you'll find awe-inspiring biodynamically farmed sloping vineyards, an integrated polyculture farm and a massive cellar of amphoras. This is a fantastical work of art meets science.
Elisabetta Foradori brought fame to the native grape Teroldego with dark, brooding Southern Rhone-styled wines, and in so doing, put the region of Campo Rotaliano squarely on the map. However, over the last ten years, owing the influence of Elisabetta's family, the domaine has been moving in the opposite direction, focusing on purity and natural winemaking.
The soil beneath the ancient vineyards of Campo Rotaliano has unique physical and chemical properties that vary markedly from place to place depending on the distance to the ancient river bed: gravel, sand and pebbles of different origin and nature. The richness in minerals and the low water retention combined with the mountains’ protective influence, help to create a perfect microclimate for the cultivation of grapevines.
Some might call this nature, but you'd be hard up trying to convince me it's not magic.
