About The Wine
From Jeff Treager’s 39 year old vineyard in Vine Vale, Barossa, at 280 metres above sea level, rooted in alluvial soils with very old sand over yellow-orange clay. The sand comes from the breakdown of compressed sandstone, while the clay — once an ocean floor — now sits 400 to 600 millimetres beneath the surface. The 2024 vintage was glorious, and the Chardonnay was picked and pressed into 600-litre French tonneaux, (no new oak) where it fermented and aged for 18 months before racking.
A beautiful, rich golden colour with green hues. Ripe apples, quince and orchard fruits with a creamy, buttery texture. Fresh with good fruit ripeness. An absolute beauty of minerality, richness, and elegance.
About Tom Shobbrook
One of the faces that would appear on the Australian natural wine Mount Rushmore, Tom Shobbrook has been instrumental in challenging the conventional winemaking norm and bringing natural wine to the front of a lot of wine drinkers consciousness.
After 12 years of growing organic grapes on his families vineyard in Seppeltsfield, Tom has moved to a farm in Flaxman Valley in which he has planted his own grapes and until his grapes are ready for production is sourcing grapes from old vines in Vine Vale.
