2024 Basket Range Wines 'Banksia' Pinot Noir

    • $40.00

    About the Wine

The fruit for the Banksia Pinot Noir was sourced entirely from the Basket Range property. It’s a blend of clones: 777 from the north-facing plot and MV6 from a block of south-facing vines. The 777 lends delicious, brambly flavours and structure to the palate, while the MV6 fleshes things out with mid-weight appeal. The fruit fermented with a small portion of bunches (approximately 15%) with gentle daily pumpovers. Maturation took place in seasoned French oak (10% new) for nine months.

    About Basket Range Wines

Basket Range Wine is a family-run winery and vineyard in the heart of the Adelaide Hills.

Led by second-generation winemaker Sholto Broderick, and alongside his parents Phillip and Mary, they’ve been nurturing this land and crafting wines here since the 1980s. Every bottle tells the story of their land, reflecting the uniquely steep and rugged Basket Range hillsides they call home.

Phillip’s sons Louis and Sholto grew up in the vineyard, working alongside their father from a young age. After formally studying viticulture and oenology, Sholto Broderick took over in 2016. He now manages manages the vineyard and winery.

Despite its small size, the 13.5-acre Basket Range vineyard undulates across multiple hillsides, creating varied aspects and diverse soils that develop interesting flavours and winemaking.

The entire vineyard is farmed using sustainable practices, preserving healthy soil microbiology and allowing a diversity of plants and insects. The focus is vineyard longevity and sustainable viticulture.
