About The Wine
From a vineyard in Eden Valley at 500 metres above sea level, rooted in sandy loam over clay and hard sandstone. The 2023 vintage was cooler and wetter than usual, one that demanded patience. The Riesling was picked quite late due to the season and directly pressed into stainless steel, where it rested on its lees for two years.
The result is a lean yet profound Riesling of freshness and irresistible slurpiness. Gorgeously aromatic with honey blossoms, ripe apricots, and citrus that cascade onto a creamy palate layered with nectarine, lime, and striking minerality.
About Tom Shobbrook
One of the faces that would appear on the Australian natural wine Mount Rushmore, Tom Shobbrook has been instrumental in challenging the conventional winemaking norm and bringing natural wine to the front of a lot of wine drinkers consciousness.
After 12 years of growing organic grapes on his families vineyard in Seppeltsfield, Tom has moved to a farm in Flaxman Valley in which he has planted his own grapes and until his grapes are ready for production is sourcing grapes from old vines in Vine Vale.
