About The Wine
The new release Chardonnay from The Wine Farm has arrived! A stunning example of Gippsland Chardonnay born from pristine, biodynamically farmed fruit and a whole lot of patience and perseverance.
Aged in seasoned three-year-old oak barrels for 12 months, then rested in bottle for a further two years before release. Aromas of white peach and honeycomb immediately draw you in, following through on the palate where they merge with soft acidity and chalky minerality.
The texture and complexity from extended lees ageing is creamy and satisfying, while the fruit purity and concentration remain beautifully defined with a long, pleasing finish.
About The Wine farm
We love The Wine Farm. Neil and Anna Hawkins craft exceptional cool-climate wines in Victoria's Gippsland region, with a particular focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Riesling. This is an authentic soil-to-glass operation in every sense.
Their two small vineyards—just 3 and 5 hectares—are situated along the coveted red volcanic soil belt. Here, they farm biodynamically with as much attention paid to what's happening underground as to the winemaking above. Perhaps even more.
Soil health is paramount at The Wine Farm. If good wine demands quality grapes, then good vines need healthy, vital, living soil. No one understands this better than Neil Hawkins, and his wines are living proof.
