About the Wine
An assemblage of Grenache Noir and Syrah from villages of the Southern Rhone Valley. Part of the this blend comes from the highly regarded classified villages of Sablet, Séguret and Cairanne that have vinified in oak alongside lighter, unwooded styles from Cote du Rhone Village sites. Its then aged for 22 months in a combination of tank, seasoned and new oak before release. The careful use of oak adds texture, structure and complexity.
About Boutinot
Boutinot had been making wine from these vineyards for some time when the opportunity arose to buy the vineyards from the previous owner. Now with some inspiring plots around Cairanne with some amazing old vines, some up to 50 years old they began completely upgrading the winery to try to create some of the best expressions of Cairanne and the neighbouring classified villages using traditional techniques. Open top ferment vats, basket press and a host of larger wood casks for elevage.
