About the Wine

Riesling from the Antipodes vineyard in the Coal River Valley. Hand-harvested, whole bunch pressed, and racked off solids to seasoned French oak for fermentation. 2 years elevage on full lees before racking to tank for bottling.

45 dozen produced.

Very good Riesling, with judicious skin contact delivering notes of pickled quince, salted peanut and tangerine oil. Some dried hay and finger lime, too. The feel is mid-weighted and succulent, with a flow of unfettered fruit and cut grass freshness, all in impeccable relief against the breadth of older wood, malolactic and smart less handling that promote the wine, while tempering Riesling's high acidity.'

Rory Duggan’s journey into winemaking was one of both serendipity and dedication. After university and years of travel, Rory found himself drawn to the world of grape growing, joining his uncle, Dirk, to tend to the vines at the family’s vineyard in Tasmania. Rory's deep connection to the land was forged through years of learning and hands-on experience in organic vineyard management, from canopy management to pruning and harvesting. Over time, his passion for wine led him to create wines that reflect both his own approach and the principles of his uncle. With a firm belief in sustainability and a holistic approach to winemaking, Rory's wines are crafted without additives, fining, or filtration, showcasing a pure, artisan style. His commitment to quality and character in each vintage is rooted in the land, which benefits from Tasmania’s cool climate and fertile soils. When the opportunity arose to manage a vineyard at Antipodes, Rory took it as the perfect moment to embark on his own winemaking journey. His wines, much like his path, are a blend of tradition, craftsmanship, and youthful energy, offering a vibrant complexity that speaks to his unique vision.
