About The Wine
Raspberry, red cherry and tart rosehip. Juicy and bright with a lifted palate and an elegant finish. Our 2024 Pinot Noir comes from the Napoleone Vineyard in Coldstream, where a rollercoaster growing season delivered outstanding fruit — pure, aromatic and full of life. A wet spring set the vines up with healthy canopies and deep soil moisture, while February's warm, dry ripening window brought clarity and brightness to the fruit.
Crafted from a blend of Pinot Noir clones, the wine was fermented naturally with a mix of whole berries and whole bunches to capture both freshness and subtle spice. A gentle touch in the winery and a short rest in French oak has resulted in a Pinot that’s expressive, vibrant and a pleasure to drink now — or to tuck away for a few years.
About Punt Road
Jarrod Johnson heads a dynamic, progressive young winemaking team at this James Halliday five star-rated winery.
Punt Road Wines stands on historic Yarra Valley land where Swiss immigrant Hubert De Castella first planted vines in 1860, creating wines that gained acclaim across Australia and Europe. This same Coldstream property later became home to the legendary St Hubert's vineyard before the Napoleone family acquired it in 1978.
The Napoleone story began when Joseph migrated from Italy in 1926, eventually reuniting with his family to start as Yarra Valley orchardists in 1948. Today, the third and fourth generations operate 58 hectares of vines alongside heritage apple and pear trees, crafting Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and other varietals that honor both the site's remarkable history and the family's enduring commitment to the land.
