About the Wine
This wine comes from eighty year old vines of Greco planted at an altitude of five hundred metres in Taurasi, where the soils have a more significant content in clay. Four days on the skins and then one year in chestnut botti. This is the most masculine white from CG, showing great density of tannin, fruit, acidity and outstanding potential ageing.
About Cantina Giardino
Born in 2003 from the collective vision of six impassioned friends, Cantina Giardino isn't just making wine—they're rescuing Irpinia's soul one ancient vine at a time. While industrial goliaths were bulldozing Europe's oldest vineyards (some dating back three centuries!) to make way for sterile monocultures, Antonio and Daniela De Gruttola launched their counter-revolution.
Their radical approach? Partnering with local smallholders, offering premium prices for chemical-free cultivation, and championing forgotten native varietals teetering on extinction's edge. This wasn't just commerce—it was a crusade to preserve liquid history.
Today, their "Garden Winery" stewards over 10.5 hectares of vineyards and 1.5 hectares of olive groves, while still honouring their roots by purchasing 35% of their grapes from the very community growers whose heritage they saved. In Irpinia's ancient soils, they've planted something even more precious than vines—hope for a future connected to the past.
