    About the Wine

Aromatics: Spicy earth aromas on the nose alongside red berries, cherries and notes of fresh tobacco.

Palate: The spice and earth notes continue on to a mid-palate packed with red and black fruits. There's a freshness and balance to accompany the fruit, making for a thirst quenching drop in the Clos de Gamot spirit!

Produced from a selected plot from the Domaine, with a limited yield of 40 hl/ha. The terroir is made of clay and limestone, as well as pebbles. Vines are worked sustainably in accordance with the family's long tradition. Vinification is shorter, with gentle pumping over to deliver a brighter and more approachable Malbec, with plenty of personality.

When to drink: Now or in the next 4-6 years.

Service: 15 - 16 degrees. Decant for 30 min when drinking in its youth.

Food match: Grilled red meats, tapas or a burger.

    About Clos de Gamot

The wines of Clos de Gamot are the humble benchmark of Malbec from Cahors, with the Jouffreau family passing winemaking traditions from father to son since 1610.

The philosophy of the family is simple: be good farmers, give things time, observe nature, and be respectful. This approach has seen vines aging back to 1885 still producing intense, great fruit. The vineyard is located on the second and third of the Lot river's terraces, composed of pebbles, gravel, and quartz mixed with alluvium of the Lot. With no use of herbicide, the workload on the vineyard is enormous.

From a winemaking perspective, grapes are sorted when they join the cellar. Each plot is vinified separately, with gentle pumping over to keep a harmonious structure. Wine is aged for 18 to 24 months in old oak, with some 40 year old foudre.

Jean Jouffreau’s daughters and his son-in-law Yves Hermann continue to lovingly care for the family vines, with Yves' son now joining the legacy.
