2024 Lucy M Noir de Florette

    About The Wine

This year, Anton’s Noir de Florette is 100% Pinot Noir from two vineyards in the heart of the Piccadilly Valley.

Half the fruit is sourced from an east-facing block on red clay soils over sandstone at Deanery Vineyard in Balhannah. The other half comes from mature vines in the sandy alluvial soils of the famed Cemetery Block site near Uraidla. Farming at both sites is organic.

The fruit ferments carbonically for six days in a 2500-litre fibreglass tank. Anton then takes only the free-run juice and light pressings and places them in 800-litre ceramic eggs to finish fermenting. The wine matures in the same vessels.

    About Lucy M

When we think of natural wine in Australia, one of the first names that comes to mind is Anton van Klopper - and for good reason. Operating from a relatively small estate in Basket Range, South Australia, Anton crafts wines renowned for their complexity, raw authenticity, and uncompromising character. And that's just how we like them!

Anton approaches winemaking exactly as you'd hope: the antithesis to mass production. His philosophy encompasses every stage of the process - from organic farming and meticulous land stewardship to hand-harvesting fruit, wild yeast fermentation, and zero additives. His commitment to purity extends even to distilling his own alcohol for winery cleaning, eliminating any need for harsh chemicals throughout the entire operation.
