This wine is a 100% Melon de Bourgogne from 10-30 years old vines planted on Granite arena, siliceous clay with deep soils allowing good rooting.
As for the winemaking - Gentle pressing upon reception of the harvest with a pneumatic press. Static settling of the must for one day and fermentation in underground glass vats with an indigenous yeast, before maturing 7-9 months on lees.
About Domaine Batard Langelier
Domaine Batard Langelier represents three generations of family winemaking in Maisdon sur Sèvre, where 20 hectares of vineyards flourish on gentle slopes between the Sèvre Nantaise and Maine rivers. Just 50km from the Atlantic, oceanic influences shape wines from century-old vines rooted in diverse metamorphic soils of granite, gneiss, and gabbro, expressing the full potential of Melon de Bourgogne within the prestigious Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation.
From grandfather Denis to father Pascal to current custodian Jérémie, each generation has deepened their bond with the land. Pascal abandoned chemical fertilizers in 1995, steering toward integrated production to preserve terroir authenticity against market standardization. Jérémie completed organic conversion in 2017 to craft wines that honour their heritage.
Vinification remains traditional - light pressing, settling, and fermentation in glass-tiled underground cement tanks typical of the region. Extended lees aging adapts to each parcel's unique expression, ensuring wines that showcase the finesse and minerality of this exceptional terroir.
