    About the Wine

Alex Foillard's Beaujolais-Villages is sourced from an east-facing parcel in the lieu-dit Saint Ennemond, where 70-year-old vines thrive in limestone and sandy soils. Fermentation begins intracellularly, as enzymes inside the whole grapes initiate the breakdown of the skins. As internal pressure builds, the grapes burst, releasing vivid aromas and deeply colored juice that gives the wine its vibrant fruit expression. This process unfolds over 10 days in concrete tanks, with a gentle pumpover every two to three days to maintain freshness and extraction.

The wine is then aged for 4 to 5 months in a mix of 50% used barrels and 50% concrete tanks, preserving its purity and texture. Bottling is done without fining or filtration, and the only addition is a small dose of sulfur to ensure stability.

Always a delight, this wine is also always dangerously drinkable! It is incredibly fresh as you would imagine, pure crisp and snappy red fruit aromas leap from the glass. An irresistible perfume. The palate is also light, crisp and snappy. Fresh and silky smooth with light, fine tannins, balanced acidity and a long finish. Truly all you could ever want from a Beaujolais Villages!

    About Alex Foillard

Alex Foillard represents the new wave of Beaujolais—deeply rooted in tradition, yet bringing a fresh perspective to one of France’s most expressive wine regions. As the eldest son of Jean Foillard—whose Morgon Côte du Py is a benchmark of the region—Alex has been immersed in this landscape from an early age. Since 2021, he has taken on the daily running of the family domaine while crafting wines under his own name. His work is already present in recent vintages of the 'Jean Foillard' wines, where his hand brings a youthful vibrancy to the house style.

Alex’s wines remain faithful to the Foillard signature: whole-cluster fermentation, native yeasts, and semi-carbonic maceration in concrete. The result is wines with lifted aromatics, supple textures, and that unmistakable sense of drinkability that has come to define the best of Beaujolais.
