The trademark characteristics of the wine produced on our site are understated power and length with a mineral finish. The wine has a great fruit expression that is well integrated with French oak. The soil characteristics have come through in the style of wine we have today. The palate is fine but firm, with great acidity, texture and length. This wine is rich in flavour, yet very refined.
About By Farr
Located 100km Southwest of Melbourne, grape growing in this region dates back 200yrs with Swiss settlers planting Victoria’s first vineyards in the early 1800s.
Purchased by Gary and Robin Farr in 1994 this beautiful and historical piece of land sits at 130Ha and is extremely rich in soil diversity and plant and animal diversity. Gary Farr has influenced an entire generation of winemakers through his hands on approach and his intense attention to detail. The By Farr farm has know been passed down to Gary’s son Nick who grew up learning the practices of winemaking from his father as well as trips to Burgundy, Hunter Valley and Oregon.
