Spring's here, dust off the deck chairs, grab a book and pour a Pinot!
1) 2020 Boaz Pinot Noir - Adelaide Hills, SA
Fruit forward, crunchy acidity, fine tannins, Australian Pinot with a European outlook. Opens beautifully into summer red fruits and soft herbs, the tannins wispy along a balanced and long finish.
This year sees 60% of the Pinot Noir coming from Mount Compass and 40% from the Adelaide Hills. The grapes were macerated seperately, 10 days and 7 days respectively, then elevaged separately for 6 months on gross lees before being blended prior to bottling.
2) 2020 Xavier Goodridge 'Pa Pa' Pinot Noir
A bright and jubilant wine from a favourite of ours - Xavier Goodridge. The nose is filled with scents of strawberry and raspberry. The palate is a continuation of this theme with lovely tart red fruit, bright acidity and a touch of earthiness. The finish has a hint of savouriness.
Really well-balanced wine and super fun. Could lend itself to a slight chill if you’re enjoying the sun.
3) 2019 Lakey Farm Ray-Monde Deux Pinot Noir
Strong varietal characters of dark plums, mulberry, fruits of the forest, and earthy overtones greet the nose.
The bouquet leads to a palate of rich, velvety, ripe red fruits. The plentiful finely integrated tannins deliver opulence that rounds out the lingering finish.
