Three of my most favourites whites I have had the pleasure of drinking lately:
2020 Domaine Colin Côteaux du Vendômois Blanc 'Pierre à Feu' Chenin Blanc
This wine is 100% Chenin Blanc, from 20 to 30 year old vines, grown on schist soil. The grapes are harvested mid-October. Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks for 5 months. This dry white is both fruity and mineral, with great freshness on the palate.
2020 Al di là del Fiume ‘Zirudela’ Albana/Montuini
Albana, montuni and grechetto, gentile carbonic macerated for 5 days in stainless steel before pressing back to tank. Textural and rich and super lifted this is a joyful example of textural white, a change from the last vintages but one we adore at the moment.
2020 Domaine Giachino 'Primitif' Jacquère
Jacquère Grapes picked by hand early in the season are pressed slowly and gently using a pneumatic system. juice is settled in a cold setting. Malolactic fermentation occurs by natural yeasts with zero adds after spending 3 months on lees. producing a thirst quenching wine of only 9.2% ABV.
