Three months skin contact and extended barrel ageing. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e80% Chardonnay and 20% Tocai friulano, hand harvested in the second half of September 2023.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll the vineyards are located in Oslavia and in the surroundings; it’s a small village belonging to Gorizia, in the north-eastern part of Italy, near the border with Slovenia. The average age of the vines of Pinot Grigio is about 40 years old.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eVintage 2023:\u003c\/strong\u003e The starting of the season was not one of the best, with a lot of rain but then in August the sun started to shine and with a significant temperature range between day and night we arrived to the harvest, not abundant at all, but good in quality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWine-making:\u003c\/strong\u003e After taking off the grape stalks, the grapes are put in oak vats, where maceration is held without any temperature control or chemical yeasts adding for about ten days. Grape skins must be always covered with wine: that’s why during all the fermentation the cap is punched down manually about 2 times per day.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCask aging:\u003c\/strong\u003e After the racking, the wine rests in Slavonian oak casks (25 to 35 hl capacity) for about 18 months, here also happens the malolactic fermentation. In the meantime, more than one racking could be necessary.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eRacking in bottles:\u003c\/strong\u003e The wine is bottled with a little addition of sulfites in two lots, starting from March 2025, in bottles of 0,75 and 1,50 liters. The bottles rest at least few months in the cellar before selling.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch4\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003eAbout Radikon\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/h4\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe wines produced by the late Stanislao (Stanko) Radikon and his son Sasa have inspired a devoted following of winemakers, critics and consumers from all parts of the globe. The father and son team seek to produce wine that is wholly natural, without compromise.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eThe Radikon vineyards are set on a hillside in Oslavia between the town of Gorizia and the Slovenian border, facing South and South-east, bordered by the Julian Alps to the north, and the Adriatic sea to the South.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDuring his 36 vintages of Radikon, Stanko has refused to commit himself to any singular winemaking style, but has instead adopted a winemaking methodology which echoes the Friulian wines made before the 1930s: extended maceration periods, the use of large oak barrels, and manual harvesting.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe approach rejects the use of chemical pesticides, temperature-controlled fermentation and sulfur.
