Ciarán (Cron) Hudson is the man behind the label. But the real stars here are actually ON the label - Maggie & Percy! Ciarán's pooches keep him in check and ensure the good times and good wine keep flowing.
The minimal interventionist winemaking style for the more serious wines is influenced by time spent in the Southern Rhone Valley working in biodynamic vineyards and making under the deft tuition of Evan Bakke of Clos de Trias in a town called Le Barroux. The fun wines, well they're obviously influenced by the relentlessly joyous and playful Maggie & Percy!
Sustainability is a heartfelt priority for Ciarán. The overall production of fruit from vignerons with genuine organic or biodynamic practices is currently outstripped by demand, meaning a modest 70% (at bare minimum) of the fruit being used for the BTG cuvées meets the high standards aimed for, with the aim to reach this 100% by 2027. The remaining fruit sourced is currently being managed with conventional practices.
Without retailers (like us) and wine drinkers like you (and us) selling and drinking 'Beyond The Glass' the pressure for our hardworking - and much appreciated - vignerons to invest in converting to organic / biodynamic practices would recede.
