Notes from La Violetta:
Felicitous confluence of Riesling 36%, Vermentino 34%, Red Traminer 19% and Muscat 11%. The Riesling and Vermentino is sourced from a gravelly ironstone site in Frankland River, while the Traminer and Muscat come from a higher altitude vineyard in the Ferguson Valley. Several days of skin contact on the Vermentino and Muscat,
everything pressed to ferment slow and wild in old puncheons and barriques, with plenty of juice solids. Unfined, unfiltered, sent to bottle to finish ferment, as is traditional.
It’s aromatically loaded; layered with citrus, herbal and floral notes,
while the palate carries luscious, skinsy textures held in check by mineral phenolics. Low on fizz, it makes a refreshing, spritzy wine for the table - the feel is savoury and moreish. Bottles empty themselves without effort. Chill, and be happy.
