Some words from Charlie on his first vintage:
A blend of Pinot Meunier, Friulano, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay and Traminer from the Celeste vineyard in the King Valley of Victoria. Farmed organically but not certified.
Destemmed, lightly crushed and then basket pressed. All this within 20 metres of the vines. The juice was transferred to old French oak for a wild ferment. After fermentation, the wine was left on lees for 6 weeks.
The wine was then racked into stainless steel, then hand-bottled, unfined and unfiltered.
An aromatic field blend; macerated strawberries, orange peel, cream and an almost guava-esque note. File under: fun wines! Bright acidity on the palate, tropical melon, banana and red apple skin. Finely textured and very smashable!
