Hope Forest, Magpie Springs, Ironstone & Quartz over clay soils with one band of sand running north south over a south east facing vineyard.
We are starting to become familiar and I would almost say friends with this vineyard. The nuance of character across the vineyard has been a challenge to get to grips with. We feel like piking a little earlier and fermenting in tank is the way forward to promote the vineyard’s wonderful acid drive. The wine is direct pressed to tank, fermented and left on lees for 1 year before bottle. 700L made.
