Notes from Commune of Buttons:
The Gloria vineyard is 1Ha of 25 year-old dry grown pinot vines grown in clay and sandstone soils rich in ironstone, quartz and basalt. In 2019 the grapes were picked early due to extreme heat on the 1st and 2nd of March. They were chilled overnight and then fermentation was in open 10hL jarrah fermenters for around 10 days. There was a high proportion of whole-bunches 80% in 2019. The a light hand and semi-carbonic conditions made for strawberry and cherry fruits to dominate. Cool and slow maceration allowed for the tannins to slowly infuse into the wine giving full integration and continuity of the palate.
