On the island of Sicilia, in the south-eastern corner, is where you'll find the Occhipinti estate. Founded in 2004 by viticulturist, Arianna Occhipinti, spanning 25 hectares of certified Biodynamic land under vines, planted only to native Sicilian varietals.
Giusto Occhipinti, her uncle, is one of the proprietors of one of Sicily's most famous estates, COS. Arianna began work here at the age of 16 and followed on to study oenology and pretty quickly begin her own production soon after, beginning with a single hectare of abandoned vines.
100% Frappato matured for 14 months in Slavonian oak. A really stylish expression of this grape. The nose offers fresh red berries alongside preserved fruits such like raisins and quince. Dried bay leaves too as well as some lovely citrus peel. Structured and textural with beautiful fine tannins.
