Notes from Pure Wines:
Patrick Bouju’s intention with this natural wine was to create a fruit-forward juice that is uncomplicated and fun – the sort of bottle that will be held upside down over a glass to secure the last few drops. To achieve this, he sourced a few of the 6 varieties that make this wine from his friend Antony Tortul (the winemaker and owner of La Sorga) in the south of France. “Raising” of this wine (fermentation and subsequent short ageing) was made entirely in fibreglass tanks to highlight the natural, fruity character of the different varieties. .
Morello cherries and overripe plums please the palate which is supported by powerful juiciness that is evident in every sip. The result is excellent; all that you might expect from a winemaker of Bouju’s reputation.
