Josh Cooper is a prodigy of sorts. His parents are the pioneering biodynamic producers of Cobaw Ridge in Macedon, and at under 30 years of age, Josh has already managed to forge his own reputation for making precise, lifted, site-specific examples of Pinot and Chardonnay. Sourcing fruit from some classic central Victorian sites, he makes the wine in a very low intervention Burgundian fashion at his parent's winery.
The Spring Pinot is an early drinking version of Josh's more serious single-vineyard Pinots. It deals in the juicy, light-fruited side of the grape rather than the darker tertiary characters of some of his other wines. This wine is both direct and engaging as a drink, and complex enough to marvel at. Refreshment and springtime brightness.
