Firstly, a few words from Joshua on the 2018 vintage.
The 2018 was again largely due to any extreme weather events, a relatively
mild winter gave rise of healthy crops of small berried, flavoursome grapes.
This innate depth was amplified by warmth late in the ripening period
enhancing depth and tannin and colour. In general they follow the same
flavour spectrums one might expect of these vineyards, though with an extra
layer of stuffing.
These are wines that in my opinion should richly reward cellaring,
and will drink best after decanting in their youth – or a after a few years of
And now about the wine:
Bright garnet. Ray-Monde is filled with the aromas and
flavours of black cherry, kirsch, violet, spice, sweet damp earth and peat.
Medium bodied with long, fine, silky tannin it is a very “gourmand” wine.
Approachable in youth due to the beautiful balance, the tannic presence and
quality suggest it should also age gracefully, gaining additional complexity
along the journey.
