Ok this is a very cool wine. Skin contact Sauvignon Blanc from Francois Blanchard's Le Grande Clere vineyard, just South of Tours. Importer Campbell Burton says this vineyard is one of the finest examples of biodiversity he has ever seen in a vineyard, with vines growing over each other, fruit trees planted between rows and wildlife encouraged to wander among the vines.
Another gastronomic masterpiece! On first pouring, the wine, which presents a rich copper colour, has a strong savoury and bready aroma. This quickly disappears to reveal layers of laser like limestone, flint, apricot and marmalade. Theres lots going on! The palate is light and fresh, with an abundance of minerality and tannin. A complex wine that once again, asks to be enjoyed with food.
