Alvar de Dios was born into a winegrowing family in the central Spanish DO region of Toro, an appellation known for it’s big, leathery and largely out of fashion Tempranillo wines. But after a few years away from the nest working with his friends from Commando G, Spain’s most sought after young rebel winegrowers, Alvar returned to take a fresh approach to his home vineyards of Toro. This approach is organic farming and above all a focus on the freshness that the high altitude affords.
90/10 Tempranillo/Garnacha from Toro DO. Fresh but lots of concentrated dark fruits, deep raspberry, graphite and an almost saline palate. Good combination of sweet fruit and acidity, lots of power for and entry level wine.
