Marine Leys is a former professional diver who now makes up a very small slice of the French winemaking community: a female vigneron (vignereuse), farming organically. She gives no quarter to her neighbouring conventional farmers who insist she will not get many grapes with organic farming. To the contrary, she grows beautiful fruit, yielding electric wines.
A blend of Syrah and Duras. A mix of wild berries and earth, and a slightly savoury edge. It’s interesting to drink, in that it’s quite light and fresh in the mouth for a blend of these varieties. Very moreish, very fresh, and very easy. The quality of fruit is excellent, the palate is clean, and the acidity is vibrant and nicely integrated. And the wine is very lively too, thanks to zero use of SO2.
